Job summary

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is seeking Direct Support Professionals in New Jersey to help adults with autism and developmental disabilities achieve greater independence and life skills. Starting salary is $20.42 per hour with increases based on education and experience. Roles may include residential group homes or vocational day programs, with comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• A valid, non-provisional driver's license.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Two-week paid new hire orientation training (hybrid and in person).
• Sound judgment, calm decision-making, and knowing when to ask for support.
• Empathy, reliability, and a team-oriented approach to supporting adults with autism and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Support adults with autism and developmental disabilities in residential group homes or vocational day programs.
• Help ensure the safety, health, and well-being of individuals in care.
• Coach and assist individuals with daily living skills (food prep, cooking, cleaning, shopping).
• Support planning, implementation, and documentation of programs addressing social, emotional, physical, and personal needs.
• Plan and participate in community-based employment, day programs, and outings promoting independence.
• Build positive relationships with family members to support individuals’ thriving.
• Safely transport individuals for appointments, programs, and activities.
