Job summary
Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health in New Jersey is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist adults with autism and developmental disabilities in building independence and daily living skills. Starting hourly wage is $20.42, with increases based on education and experience.
Qualifications
- Empathy, reliability, and a team-oriented approach to supporting adults with autism and developmental disabilities.
- Valid, non-provisional driver's license.
- Ability to respond calmly, make thoughtful decisions, and seek support when needed.
Responsibilities
- Direct Support Professionals may work in residential group homes or vocational day programs.
- Help ensure the safety, health, and well-being of individuals in our care.
- Coach and assist individuals as they build daily living skills, including food preparation, cooking, cleaning, and shopping.
- Support the planning, implementation, and documentation of programs addressing each individual's social, emotional, physical, and personal needs.
- Plan and participate in community-based employment, volunteer opportunities, and outings that promote involvement and independence.
- Build positive relationships with individuals’ family members to support their thriving.
- Safely transporting individuals to appointments, day programs, and community activities.
