Job summary

Resources for Human Development is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSP) in the Allentown, Bath, Bethlehem, Coplay, Nazareth & Zionsville areas of PA. Per Diem employees must work at least one 8‑hour shift per pay period and provide compassionate, individualized support to people with disabilities.

The DSP role focuses on assisting with daily living activities, promoting independence, and documenting progress. A valid driver’s license and CPR/First Aid certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; related field education is a plus.
• Experience in direct support, caregiving, or related fields preferred.
• Compassionate and patient demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Background checks including driver’s record check may be required.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willing to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Support clients in daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household management.
• Foster a positive and respectful relationship with clients while promoting their independence and personal choices.
• Assist clients in developing skills for everyday living and participate in social and recreational activities.
• Document client progress and maintain accurate records of care and support provided.
• Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other team members to ensure coordinated care.
