Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in Lenoir, NC to assist individuals with IDD in completing daily living tasks and achieving their goals. The role is based in the client home and community, with an overnight rotation and on-site supervision as needed.

You will assist with housekeeping, meal prep, personal care, and transportation, while maintaining daily documentation in the EHR.

Qualifications

• Experience: entry-level, on-the-job training provided.
• Education: high school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge: basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, safety protocols.
• Skills: interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability are a must.
• Technology: proficiency with EHR systems or be willing to learn.
• Transportation: must have reliable transportation, driver’s license, and current auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care and related tasks.
• Transport the client to appointments and run errands as needed.
• Help plan and organize the client's schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll play a critical role in carrying out that mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals.

Location: Lenoir, North Carolina

Compensation: $15.00/hour

Schedule

Saturday AM through Monday AM; Overnight stay is required during the rotation, but staff is off-duty and asleep for the night hours unless there is an emergency.

Your Role in Our Mission

You will provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.

• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers; as well as employment support.
• You may transport the client to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.
