Job summary

ARC Voyagers in Grove City, OH is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them live independently and engage with their communities.

You will work Monday–Friday 8:00 am–4:00 pm, earning $18.00 per hour, with comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, 403(b) with company match, life insurance, and training opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Must submit to BCII/FBI background checks
  • Maintain American Red Cross or equivalent first aid and CPR certification
  • Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and insurability standards
  • Complete eight hours of training as required by The Ohio Department of Developmental services
  • Must pass a physical and drug screen

Responsibilities

  • Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in building independence, engaging with their communities, and achieving meaningful personal outcomes.
  • Create Meaningful Experiences by assisting participants in education, recreation, social, and vocational activities.
  • Support Independence with daily living activities, personal hygiene, and health maintenance while promoting dignity.
  • Teach & Coach participants in developing new skills across settings and contribute to ISPs.
  • Provide transportation to activities, appointments, and community opportunities.
  • Document services and maintain compliance with CMS, DODD, OOD, CARF, and other regulations.
  • Create a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment and uphold respect and inclusion.

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Hourly Wage: $18.00 an hour

What You’ll Do and Why it Matters

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in building independence, engaging with their communities, and achieving meaningful personal outcomes. DSPs make a lasting difference every day through encouragement, mentorship, and person-centered support.

  • Creating Meaningful Experiences: Assist participants in exploring educational, recreational, social, and vocational opportunities while encouraging community involvement and volunteer activities.
  • Supporting Independence: Help participants with daily living activities, personal hygiene, and health maintenance while promoting dignity and self-advocacy.
  • Teaching & Coaching: Support participants in developing new hard and soft skills across a variety of settings while contributing to Person-Centered Individual Service Plans (ISPs).
  • Providing Transportation: Safely transport participants to activities, appointments, and community-based opportunities as needed.
  • Ensuring Quality Services: Document services provided and maintain compliance with CMS, DODD, OOD, CARF, and other applicable regulations and standards.
  • Creating Safe Environments: Maintain a safe, healthy, and supportive environment while adhering to all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Upholding Respect & Inclusion: Protect the rights, dignity, and individuality of every person served through compassionate, person-centered care.
What Makes You a Great Fit
  • 21 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Positive, patient, and compassionate attitude
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently while remaining professional and organized
  • Passion for helping individuals achieve personal goals and community inclusion
  • Ability to lift, bend, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Experience supporting individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact every day
