Job summary

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health in New Jersey is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist adults with autism and developmental disabilities, helping them gain independence and life skills in daily activities and community participation.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Valid, non-provisional driver’s license required.
At least 18 years of age.
Two-week paid new hire orientation training (hybrid and in person).
Sound judgment with calm, thoughtful decisions; know when to seek support.
Empathy, reliability and teamwork in supporting adults with autism and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

Direct Support Professionals may work in residential group homes or vocational day programs.
Help ensure the safety, health, and well-being of individuals in our care.
Coach and assist individuals as they build daily living skills (food prep, cooking, cleaning, shopping).
Support planning, implementation and documentation of programs addressing social, emotional, physical, and personal needs.
Plan and participate in community-based employment, day program activities and outings.
Build positive relationships with individuals’ family members to support thriving.
Safely transport individuals to appointments, day programs, and community activities.
