Job summary

Devereux New Jersey is hiring Direct Support Professionals to empower adults with autism and developmental disabilities to lead more independent lives and participate in their communities.

As part of a collaborative team, you will provide daily living support, safety, and compassionate care; participate in training; and access paid time off, healthcare benefits, student loan reimbursement, and clear paths for career growth. Starting pay is $20.42/hour with room for advancement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• A valid, non-provisional driver's license is required.
• Must be 18+ years old.
• Two-week paid orientation training that is hybrid and in person.
• Good judgment and calm decision-making; know when to ask for support.
• Empathy, reliability, and a team-oriented approach to supporting adults with autism and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Work in residential group homes or vocational day programs.
• Ensure the safety, health, and well-being of individuals in our care.
• Coach and assist individuals to build daily living skills (food prep, cooking, cleaning, shopping).
• Support planning, implementation, and documentation of programs addressing social, emotional, physical, and personal needs.
• Plan and participate in community-based employment, volunteer opportunities, and outings to promote involvement and independence.
• Build positive relationships with families to help individuals thrive under our care.
• Safely transporting individuals to appointments, day programs, and community activities.
