Job summary

RHA Health Services, LLC is hiring a Direct Support Professional–Waiver/FT (1st shift, 8:00am–4:00pm) to support individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs, promoting independence.

Responsibilities include promoting healthy living, assisting with daily living, transportation support, documenting care, and protecting rights and confidentiality. Requirements: high school diploma or GED preferred, 18+, valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver's license.
• Conflict resolution, some computer skills, decision making, communication skills, and good attendance.

Responsibilities

• Promote healthy living and prevent illness and accidents.
• Increase awareness of self-advocacy and support individual choice and decision-making.
• Accompany people to work, the movies, concerts, shopping, and other community outings.
• Teach independent living skills.
• Provide transportation to appointments.
• Foster positive relationships within the community.
• Promote decision-making about living, work, and social relationships.
• Assist with personal care and bathing, help around the home (laundry, cleaning, and decorating).
• Document the care you provide.
• Provide education on human, legal, and civil rights.
• Understand diverse challenges of those living with disabilities and use effective advocacy strategies.
• Connect people with resources to further explore opportunities in their career, education, volunteerism, etc.
• Promote effective communication.
• Assist in medication administration where state law allows.
• Protect confidentiality.
