Job summary

St. John’s Community Services seeks a Day Support Specialist to provide direct support to individuals with disabilities in community settings. You will assist with daily routines, help develop skills, and participate in ISPs to enhance quality of life.

You will supervise activities, transport participants, and record data while maintaining safety and following policies. Relevant training and a valid driver’s license are essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • Ability to gain working knowledge of SJCS policies and procedures.
  • Ability to act as a representative of St. John’s Community Services to the public.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with staff and diverse individuals.
  • Knowledge of food preparation and safety practices.
  • Ability to model and teach relevant social and behavioral skills.
  • Ability to operate computer systems and office equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out the mission and core values through relationship building and ISP-based skills training.
  • Facilitate individuals’ participation in community activities and contracted services.
  • Document daily data in ISP including behavioral support plans.
  • Monitor and report changes in individuals’ needs per policy and regulations.
  • Assist in calendar development to meet ISP-guided activities.
  • Provide safe transportation to activities and appointments.
  • Supervise to ensure health and safety and administer medications as needed.
  • Attend agency events, workshops and meetings.

As a Support Specialist you will participate as an active and contributing member of a dynamic and collaborative team.
