Job summary

St. John’s Community Services in Newark, Delaware is seeking a Lead DSP to manage residential program operations and directly support individuals with disabilities. You will supervise staff, ensure compliant documentation, and assist with billing and coordination of medical appointments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals in utilizing public resources and life experiences.
  • Train and mentor new employees.
  • Monitor daily notes to validate services meet goals.
  • Ensure documentation clearly states supports provided.
  • Review/approve daily service notes and enter billing.
  • Provide staff feedback on note quality and compliance.
  • Assist supervisor with timely billing for services.
  • Schedule and attend medical appointments and follow physicians' orders.
  • Maintain homes to be clean and presentable.
  • Encourage independence and provide direct care as needed.
  • Transport individuals to activities and appointments.
  • Support independence and meaningful social roles.
  • Perform direct support duties as per schedule.
  • Ensure PSRs are done after every therapy transaction.

What are we looking for?

We are looking to add a Lead DSP to our team. As the Lead DSP you will be responsible for assisting in managing all operational aspects of a residential program within St. John’s Community Services.

Your overall essential responsibilities will be the following:
  • Assist people in utilizing generic public resources and increasing their exposure to general life experiences.
  • Participate in training and mentoring new employees.
  • Monitor daily notes to validate services and support provided meet identified goals.
  • Ensure all documentation captures applicable service definitions and clearly states the supports provided to meet individual goals.
  • Review/approve daily service notes and enter service billing as applicable.
  • Provide staff feedback on quality and compliance standards of service notes.
  • Assist supervisor with timely and accurate billing for services within the program.
  • Schedule and attend medical appointments with individuals and follow through with physicians' orders as necessary.
  • Maintain work environments consistent with family expectations and ensure homes are clean and presentable.
  • Encourage independence in all areas, provide direct care and assistance with personal care when needed.
  • Transport individuals to and from work, day activities, school, medical, social and other activities.
  • Support individuals to become independent, make decisions, and live a meaningful dignified life with valued social roles (e.g., friend, neighbor, student, employee).
  • Perform direct support duties as per the program schedule and/or program need.
  • Ensure that PSR’s are done after every transaction in therapy.

Extra credit will be given if you have the following experience, education, and requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree, or 60 credit hours, and 6 months of related work experience preferred.
  • One year of experience working directly with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
All SJCS employees must:
  • Obtain a valid health certificate to meet SJCS or current funding authority requirements as required.
  • Meet SJCS and the funding authority requirement of criminal background and record checks.
