Dungarvin is hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide hands-on support for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. You will help with daily living activities, meals, personal care, and community integration in a supportive home-like setting.

The role emphasizes compassionate care, safety, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to meet personal goals and ensure well-being. PAID orientation and ongoing training are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD).
• Strong communication skills (reading, writing, listening).
• Team oriented with a willingness to collaborate.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, hands-on support to residents in daily living activities.
• Assist with dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and meals.
• Support mobility and transfers, including use of lift devices when needed.
• Assist with light housekeeping and laundry to maintain a safe environment.
• Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalate challenging behaviors.

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for providing direct support, hands‑on instruction, assistance, and positive direction to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) in a manner that ensures their health, safety, successful achievement of service objectives, and personal goals.

• Enrich and support the lives of our residents while maintaining a safe and healthy environment
• Provide companionship and personalized care while encouraging independence and self‑care.
• Assist with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
• Prepare meals and snacks.
• Perform light housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices.
• Implement positive behavior supports and de‑escalate challenging behaviors when needed.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must be able to provide references
• Able to attend two weeks of PAID in‑house orientation and training
• Have a passion to help others through person‑centered care

• Good communication is key in this role. You’ll rely on your reading, writing, and communication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with both internal and external team members.
