Job summary

New Horizons in Autism, Inc. (NHIA) is seeking a Direct Support Professional for our Day Program in New Jersey.

You will provide direct care, supervision, and encouragement to adults with autism in a structured setting, helping participants develop independence and life skills while supporting health and safety. We offer a comprehensive training program, a Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–4:00 PM schedule, and a path for growth within a compassionate nonprofit.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or higher (diploma or transcripts required).
• Must be at least 20 years of age.
• Valid New Jersey driver's license.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with individuals with autism.
• Must complete all pre-employment requirements: Central Registry, CARI, DMV Check, Drug Screening, Physical Examination, PPD Testing.

Responsibilities

• Providing direct care, supervision, and individualized support.
• Assisting with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Administering and documenting medications.
• Teaching and reinforcing life skills.
• Providing transportation to community activities and appointments.
• Maintaining accurate documentation.
