Job summary

New Horizons in Autism, Inc. in New Jersey is hiring a Direct Support Professional for our Day Program to help adults with autism build independence and life skills in a structured, caring environment.

You will provide direct care and supervision, assist with daily living activities, document medications, and transport participants to community activities. Training is provided, and a clear weekday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or higher; transcripts may be requested.
• Must be at least 20 years of age.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license.

About the Role

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in our Day Program, you'll provide direct care, supervision, and encouragement to adults with autism in a structured, engaging environment. You'll help participants develop independence, build life skills, and enjoy meaningful daily experiences while supporting their health, safety, and personal goals.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Providing direct care, supervision, and individualized support
• Assisting with personal care and activities of daily living
• Administering and documenting medications
• Teaching and reinforcing life skills
• Providing transportation to community activities and appointments
• Maintaining accurate documentation
• Creating a structured, engaging, and supportive daily environment

Schedule

Monday through Friday
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Enjoy a consistent weekday schedule with evenings and weekends free.

Qualifications

Starting Pay: $19.00 per hour

• High School Diploma, GED, or higher degree (diploma or transcripts required)
• Must be at least 20 years of age
• Valid New Jersey driver's license
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with individuals with autism
• Strong problem‑solving skills and sound judgment
• Must successfully complete all pre‑employment requirements, including:
• Central Registry
• CARI
• DMV Check
• Drug Screening
• Physical Examination
• PPD Testing
