Job summary

Central State Community Services, Inc. in Midland, Michigan, is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide direct support in the homes of adults with developmental and other disabilities, following person-centered plans and promoting a safe, supportive environment.

You will assist with personal care, supervision, community activities, and documentation; must have a high school diploma or GED, be able to relate with empathy, and work effectively as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to relate with sensitivity to others.
• Demonstrates emotional maturity and stability.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a Direct Service setting.
• Willingness to attend trainings and pass exams.
• Three or more positive references available on request.
• Ability to manage crises calmly and effectively.
• Capable of working with minimal supervision.
• Attends staff meetings and in-services as required.
• Accurate documentation of care and incidents.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist or provide consumers with all aspects of personal care.
• Assist and supervise to prevent injury and manage transfers per plan.
• Accompany and supervise consumers in the community and events.
• Administer and document medications as prescribed; report errors.
• Support implementation of Person-Centered Plans.
• Provide constant supervision to ensure safety.
• Observe, document and report unusual behavior/incidents.
• Communicate effectively with staff and residents.
• Maintain necessary records and documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
