Job summary

Central State Community Services, Inc. is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide direct care in the homes of adults with developmental and other disabilities in Bruce Township, MI.

The role focuses on personal care, safety, and structured daily activities under a person-centered approach. The DSP will work under the Home Supervisor and will participate in training, documentation, and coordination with the care team to ensure high-quality support and adherence to program plans.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Ability to relate with sensitivity to others.
• Evidence of emotional maturity and stability.
• Ability to recognize and record significant individual and group behavior.
• Willingness to take on tasks and duties as assigned.
• Ability to get along with people and to work as a team.
• Attend trainings and pass exams (tests) as required.
• Three or more positive references.
• Evidence of ability to handle crisis situations with calmness and objectivity.
• Ability to work without immediate supervision.
• Attend staff meetings and scheduled in-services and trainings.

Responsibilities

• Assist or provide consumers with all aspects of personal care.
• Assist consumers by lifting, transferring, and, when necessary, to prevent injury, physically managing them.
• Accompany, assist and supervise consumers in the Community, and to events.
• Administer and document medications as prescribed by the Physician.
• Assure active treatment and implementation of Person-Centered Plans.
• Provide constant supervision of all consumers to assure safety.
• Observe, document and report unusual behavior and/or incidents.
• Effectively communicate with other staff and the individuals we serve.
• Maintain records and documentation as necessary and appropriate.
• Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors or executives.
