Job summary

Hope Network in Michigan is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential personal care and community living supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, severe mental illness, or co-occurring diagnoses. The DSP assists with mobility, daily living, communication, health management, and social participation.

You will help with safety monitoring, crisis prevention, relationships, daily living skills, health tasks, and community involvement,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid State of Michigan driver’s license required.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to become CPR/First Aid certified.
• Possess basic computer skills.
• Commitment to scheduled shifts (including weekends and holidays).
• Dedication to assigned duties and performance expectations.

Responsibilities

• Safety: monitor and ensure safety 24/7 with various check patterns.
• Relationships: establish trust-based communication and partnerships with individuals served and professionals.
• Activities and Daily Living Skills: support problem-solving, independence, and participation in social activities.
• Health: monitor vitals, promote positive behavior, attend medical appointments, and document plans and care notes.
• Community: connect individuals with community opportunities and educational or employment goals.
