Charles Lea Center in Smithfield, NC is seeking Direct Support Professionals to help individuals with disabilities live full, independent lives in a residential setting.

The role offers competitive pay at $19.03/hour plus shift differential, a $1,500 sign-on bonus, paid training, benefits, and growth opportunities. Overnight and weekend work are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience preferred (DSP, CNA, PCA, RBT, Med Tech, Caregiver).
• Valid driver’s license and Social Security number required.
• Basic computer and documentation skills; ability to pass background and reference checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living skills, grooming, meals, personal care, and medication administration.
• Support individuals in activities, community outings, and skill-building.
• Promote independence and dignity in every interaction.
• Document daily notes, training steps, and updates in Therap.
• Communicate important information to supervisors and team members.
• Follow safety, infection control, and agency policies.
• Maintain professionalism, teamwork, and positive interactions.

Overnight Shift Availability Required

• Monday–Friday: 11:00 PM – 9:00 AM
• Every Other Weekend (Saturday & Sunday): 8:00 PM/9:00 PM – 8:00 AM/9:00 AM
• Flexibility to work overnight and weekend hours is essential.

Aboutthe Role:

As a DSP, you’ll work in a residential setting supporting individuals with disabilities in their daily lives. Your responsibilities may include:
