Job summary

Southeastern Virginia Training Center in Virginia hires Direct Support Professionals for the PM shift to assist individuals with daily living and behavioral support. This essential role requires compassion, reliability, and the ability to work with a team in a state-run facility.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to meet physical demands. Training is provided, including CPR/First Aid and behavioral management techniques.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have active, valid driver’s license.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Ability to work with an integrated team.
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job (standing, bending, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds).
• Successful completion of the facility’s pre-service training program (CPR/First Aid, etc.) is required.
• Experience with Electronic Health Records after training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities and mobility support.
• Utilize behavior management strategies to support individuals with maladaptive behaviors.
• Provide emotional and behavioral support while promoting independence.
• Implement behavior intervention plans with the support team.
• Foster a safe, structured, and positive environment.
