Job summary

Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services at the Southeastern Virginia Training Center seeks Direct Support Professionals for the PM shift. You will support individuals with disabilities and assist with daily living activities and behavioral needs.

Preferred CNA/CNS/PCA background; requires high school diploma, valid driver's license, and ability to work flexible hours. The role includes pre-service training (CPR/First Aid, medication management) and a 2:30 p.m.–11:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience supporting individuals with disabilities preferred.
• Valid driver's license and basic computer skills required.
• Ability to meet physical demands (lifting up to 50 pounds) with or without accommodation.
• Pre-service training including CPR/First Aid and behavior management is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities and mobility.
• Apply behavior management strategies to support maladaptive behaviors.
• Provide emotional and behavioral support while promoting independence.
• Implement behavior intervention plans and collaborate with the team.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and positive environment.
