Job summary

Whole Life in Preston, CT is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals to join our team. DSPs provide person-centered care to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, assisting with daily living activities, promoting independence, and supporting community involvement.

You will document care, monitor well-being, and collaborate with families and managers to implement individualized care plans, while ensuring safety, dignity, and respect at all times.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license and necessary identification (SSN card, birth certificate or passport).
• Ability to pass background check, safe driving record, and Abuse Registry Check; Fit for Duty and TB test post-hire within 30 days.
• Ability to stand, move, twist, bend, kneel, reach, lift up to 100lbs; walk throughout shift.
• Must document care in English and communicate effectively with clients and co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and meal prep.
• Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and support medical appointments.
• Maintain a clean, safe living environment through light housekeeping and laundry.
• Engage clients in social activities and community outings to promote independence.
• Document daily activities, observations, and incidents accurately.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA regulations and implement individualized care plans.
