Job summary

Whole Life is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals to join our team in Waterford, CT. DSPs provide person-centered care to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, assisting with daily living activities and promoting independence and community engagement.

The role focuses on safety, dignity, and well-being, working closely with clients, families, and managers to implement personalized care plans and support clients in achieving personal goals.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Proof of valid driver’s license, Social Security card, birth certificate, or passport required.
• Background check, safe driving record, and Abuse Registry Check required; Fit for Duty physical and TB test within 30 days of hire.
• Must be able to stand, move, twist, bend, kneel, reach, lift, and walk for majority of shift; some positions may require lifting up to 100 lbs.
• Must be able to document care in English and communicate in English with clients and co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and meal preparation.
• Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and support medical appointments.
• Ensure a clean, safe living environment through light housekeeping and laundry.
• Engage clients in social activities, community outings, and choice-making to promote independence.
• Use mobility equipment with proper techniques.
• Document daily activities, observations, and incidents accurately.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
• Implement individualized care plans.
