Job summary

Devereux New Jersey is seeking Direct Support Professionals to help adults with autism and developmental disabilities build independence, daily living skills, and community participation. You will join a collaborative team and receive training, supervision and support from clinical leadership.

Starting pay is $20.42 per hour with increases based on education and experience. We offer paid orientation, comprehensive health benefits after 30 days, generous time off, student loan reimbursement, and

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED.
• A valid, non-provisional driver's license.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Attend a two-week paid new hire orientation training that is hybrid and in person.
• Sound judgement and the ability to respond calmly and make thoughtful decisions.
• Empathy, reliability, and a team-oriented approach to supporting adults with autism and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct Support Professionals may work in residential group homes or vocational day programs.
• Help ensure the safety, health, and well-being of individuals in our care.
• Coach and assist individuals with daily living skills, including cooking, cleaning, and shopping.
• Support planning, implementation, and documentation of programs addressing social, emotional, physical, and personal needs.
• Plan and participate in community-based employment, day programs, and outings to promote involvement and independence.
• Build positive relationships with individuals' family members to help ensure thriving results.
• Safely transporting individuals to doctor appointments, day programs, and community activities.
