Job summary

University at Buffalo Campus Dining & Shops is seeking an Assistant Manager to supervise student and union staff, coordinate scheduling, training, and coaching, and ensure excellent customer service on the floor during peak times.

The role reports to the General Manager, Operations, and requires hands-on leadership to implement dining operations procedures, manage hours, and control labor and food costs in a high-volume campus dining environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in food service or related field.
• 2 years progressively responsible experience managing a similar food service operation.
• Experience in a high-volume food service establishment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train student, union and temporary staff; manage scheduling and daily supervision.
• Oversee staffing, hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
• Ensure adherence to customer service programs and resolve complaints.
• Maintain payroll/time and attendance, and unit checklists.
• Assist with menu concepts, cost control, and ordering processes.
