Job summary

UCHI United Church Homes, Inc. in Four Winds Community seeks a Dining Services Assistant to support meal preparation, service, and cleanup for residents and staff during daily meals and special events.

You will assist the cook, help with tray service, sanitation, and dining room upkeep while adhering to dementia care protocols and safety guidelines, communicating effectively with residents and team members.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; related experience preferred.
• Six months to one year of related experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write and speak English; multi-tasking.

Responsibilities

• Assist Cook as needed.
• Carry pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, stove, and refrigerator.
• Prepare nourishment according to community procedures.
• Execute sanitation process: wash tables and chairs; sweep and mop dining room floor; take trash to dumpster; wash dishes and silverware; put cleaned dishes away; assist with cleaning of kitchen equipment; maintain clean, neat work areas.
• Assist with meal service duties: set dining room tables; work on meal tray serving line; serve meal trays to residents (waiter style, as needed); check meal trays for accuracy; clear tables of dishes and trash; push food carts to nursing wings; communicate with residents during meal times to enhance a homelike dining experience; assist with clean‑up after each meal and prepare for the next.
• Act calmly and logically to manage unusual occurrences.
• Follow safety and security guidelines for residents.
• Maintain effective communication with residents, their families, and other staff.
• Provide care, treatment, and services using dementia care protocols.
• Participate in relevant educational and training activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
