Job summary

Michigan Technological University is seeking a 12 month, 1st shift, PTNB Food Service Helper for our Residential Dining department in their Wads dining hall. They will perform in areas of food service to include food preparation and production, including customer service, equipment operation, and cashier duties.

The role requires excellent communication and teamwork, with the ability to work evenings and weekends. A High School diploma is required, and SERV Safe certification is desirable.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in food service and customer interaction.
• ServSafe certification is desirable.
• Ability to learn and follow instructions; good communication.

Responsibilities

• Direct activities of student workers in assigned area.
• Train and instruct student employees; maintain records and prepare reports.
• Order food, maintain inventory, operate electronic cash register and card readers.
• Responsible for cleaning, sanitation, and safety in assigned area.
• Operate all equipment used in preparation and production of menu items; follow recipes.
• Perform catering duties including setup, service, and cleanup.
• Maintain knowledge of portions and ingredients; adhere to uniform policy.
• Participate in training for operational changes.
• Handle garbage removal and recycling in assigned areas.
• Conduct inventories as assigned.
• Supervise student assistants; engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Apply safety-related knowledge to daily work.
