Job summary

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is seeking Dining and Retail Services Staff for Spring 2026. Positions are available at Sandburg and Cambridge, with flexible 4 to 6-hour shifts. Responsibilities include assisting in food preparation, providing customer service, and maintaining sanitation standards. Ideal candidates are UWM students available to work weekends. A commitment to teamwork and a pleasant disposition are essential. Training is provided, and students can work up to 25 hours per week. Free transportation via UWM shuttle service is included.

Dining and Retail Services - Residential Staff (Spring 2026)

WE NEED MORE CAFE STAFF MEMBERS! NEW POSITIONS HAVE OPENED UP! Apply to join our team for Spring 2026!

If you want a job conveniently located close to campus with a flexible schedule and short 4-to-6-hour shifts, then a DRS Staff position is perfect for you!

Hiring for two (2) locations:

• Sandburg
• Cambridge

Students will be contacted and assigned a unit based off their availability

No experience required; we provide training!

What you will gain:

Join our team! Students can work 7 days/week, up to 25 hours/week (20 hours/week for international students). Unit supervisors work around your class schedule.

Free transportation to and from Sandburg and Cambridge is provided by the UWM shuttle service.

HOURS

Must have availability to work 10-15 hours/week

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assisting with all phases of food preparation for salads, sandwiches, beverages, entrees, soups, and specialty items
• Creating a welcoming environment for guests and providing excellent customer service
• Maintain sanitation standards and portion control per supervisor instructions
• Set up serving stations that include utensils, food, dishes, supplies, and condiments
• Maintain beverage station dispensers and refill as necessary
• Replenish condiments and serving utensils
• Stock necessary items using FIFO (First-in First-out) stocking procedures
• Cashiering duties
• Dish room duties
• Other duties as assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• Individuals are UWM students that are currently enrolled in classes and are willing to learn
• Available to work weekend shifts
• Must be responsible and reliable
• Can work quickly, accurately, and maintain a pleasant disposition.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs. repeatedly
• Stand for a minimum of 4 hours continuously
• Utilize kitchen tools safely
• Maneuver throughout a kitchen environment
