The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving coffee, alcoholic beverages, specialty beverages, and serving food in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner. This position ensures all products are prepared according to established recipes and quality standards while delivering exceptional guest service. The Barista is responsible for accurately processing guest transactions, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, and creating a welcoming environment for guests.
The successful Barista will demonstrate a commitment to providing outstanding guest service while maintaining efficiency, accuracy, and professionalism in a fast-paced environment. Previous cash handling and customer service experience preferred. Previous food service, coffee shop, or restaurant experience preferred. Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to listen attentively and accurately fulfill guest orders. Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Basic math skills and the ability to accurately handle cash and process transactions. Must be able to read, write, understand and communicate verbally in English.
The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds regularly and heavier items with assistance when necessary. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity.
The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of such places as kitchens, restaurants, bars, coolers, offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, residences, and commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with kitchen equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire, health and safety regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated. The work environment involves exposure to secondhand smoke in a casino. This is a 24 hour/7 day a week work environment with varying shifts including weekends and holidays.
