Job summary

The State of Indiana is hiring an Information Systems Director for the Department of Local Government Finance to lead the IS Division, shape modernization, and ensure compliance with Indiana law. You will oversee software applications, coordinate cross‑departmental efforts, and guide staff through technology updates while aligning with agency priorities.

The role involves budgeting, governance, risk mitigation, and representing the department in the Indiana Gateway portal.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of information technology, information security, information management, project management and business management.
• Ability to bridge technology and business goals to provide productive solutions.
• Broad knowledge of IT disciplines and general business theory.

Responsibilities

• Develop current and long-range technology direction in line with agency goals.
• Set policies, standards, methods and priorities for information systems activities.
• Provide technical guidance and authorize major plans and procedures.
• Analyze new technologies and provide recommendations.
• Improve operations, reduce turnaround times and enhance customer service.
• Monitor budgets and expenditures to meet targets.
• Represent the IT division at events and meetings.
• Participate in budgeting with senior management for IT.
• Review IT/security RFPs to ensure alignment with objectives.
• Recruit, onboard and train staff with ongoing development.
• Set expectations, measure progress, and ensure quality and timeliness.
