Job summary

Center for American Progress seeks a Digital Strategy Associate to join CAP Action’s Digital Advocacy team in Washington, DC. The role focuses on creating engaging social content that advances progressive policies and grows CAP Action channels, reaching audiences where they are.

The candidate should be highly organized with strong writing and communications skills, experienced in nonprofit or policy contexts, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while collaborating

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Two to three years of professional experience in social media or digital communications.
• Excellent writing and proofreading skills with editorial judgment.
• Experience running social media campaigns across platforms.
• Experience with rapid-response content.
• Familiarity with social listening and analytics tools.
• Ability to juggle multiple projects for different stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage, draft, produce, and publish content for CAP Action social media channels.
• Develop and implement social growth and engagement strategies for campaigns and rapid-response moments.
• Identify digital strategies to find and grow audiences for CAP Action messaging.
• Work with creative and policy teams to pitch and produce graphics, memes, and video content.
• Identify and share performance insights to inform engagement strategies.
• Participate in team brainstorms and planning meetings.
• Think outside the box to connect trends on platforms to the organization’s messaging priorities.
• Contribute to shared publishing calendars for CAP Action.
• Cover major live events in concert with Communications and policy teams.
• Maintain direct reporting lines across American Progress.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
