Job description

It All Starts with Our People

As the leader in automotive preventive maintenance, Valvoline has a proven track record of growth. We continue to invest in our people, processes, and technology to strengthen our ability to efficiently deliver Quick, Easy, Trusted service across all our stores - every day. We're not just in the car business; we're in the people business. And we're looking for humble, hungry, and smart people to help us shape the future of mobility. If you're hungry to drive change and seek a dynamic, collaborative environment that fuels both personal and professional growth, you've found your place with us.

Our highest priority is creating a welcoming workplace with team members from a wide variety of diverse backgrounds and experiences.

The Opportunity

Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity as a Digital Product Manager. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to improve store efficiency, implement new tools, and drive operational excellence; partner with business and tech stakeholders to manage product/feature life cycle; facilitate cross-functional teamwork to set and articulate priorities; partner on business cases to improve our overall store support; use scalable communication techniques and collaboration methods to generate concise, accurate content in the right form for diverse audiences; collaborate efficiently with tech to design, select, and implement enhancements that solve moderately complex problems; connect stakeholders of all levels and across business divisions with the resources they need to do the right thing for Valvoline’s customers; and set own agenda and execute independently with limited oversight.

How You'll Make a Difference

  • Partner with business and tech to build business cases, requirements documentation, and user stories. Assist in prioritizing digital solutions that improve customer and employee experiences and produce operational efficiencies. Collaborate with tech and UX design to develop, select, and implement enhancements that solve moderately complex problems. Conduct business analyses (i.e. modeling, forecasting, statistical methods) to maximize impact.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in digital product development. Exercise above-average written and verbal communication skills to gather and write requirements, customer narratives, and business cases; create and maintain documentation; and align stakeholders using cross-functional influence. Lead value-based discussions, convey complex lifecycle and delivery scenarios accurately, and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders. Influence goal setting and resource-planning.
  • Collect and analyze operational data to identify trends, measure performance, and recommend process improvements. Use technology, business, and process expertise to influence long-term vision for product/feature life cycle. Engage and assess vendors. Make build/borrow/buy recommendations. Define and articulate success metrics for moderately complex products/features.
  • Assess technical feasibility, analyze the Return on Investment (ROI), and justify associated investments to stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Technical knowledge, the ability to generate diverse test plans, and familiarity with risk mitigation are critical to driving effective engineering outcomes. Post-launch, advise on expected behavior and monitoring, performance, scaling/tech debt, availability tuning, and incident resolution. Look for opportunities to make components extensible. Drive adherence to strategy, operating model, and continuous improvement. Support backlog grooming and prioritization of product features based on needs and feedback from stakeholders.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion. PMs are responsible for results produced by teams that they do not directly manage and are accountable for overall customer experience. Growth in the role is directly tied to a) identifying, defining, and resolving ambiguous product, function, and/or domain-driven problems, b) capacity to handle complexity and non-standard constraints, and c) track record as a force multiplier, i.e.. dramatically increasing (hence, multiplying) the effectiveness of the group, such that they accomplish things in orders of magnitude greater.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum of five years of experience in digital product management
  • Experience analyzing, leading, and building complex solutions, gathering requirements and specifications for product development, and writing Product Requirement Documents
  • Experience launching Product Features and developing the Product Strategy for new and existing products
  • Experience calculating the Return on Investment (ROI) for new product ideas
  • Experience with system design and service/processes improvement
  • Experience executing market research and analysis to evaluate competitor features and industry benchmarking
  • Experience executing multivariate A/B testing to identify solutions
  • Experience with data modeling and forecasting using spreadsheets
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
