You will optimize daily packaging of editorial content to grow in-DMA readership and engagement, using analytics and interactive formats.

You will write compelling headlines, coordinate across multiple regional sites, and drive audience growth via SEO, social promotion, and data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of news and information gathering/production experience.
• Experience building online databases (investigative, elections, weather).
• Knowledge of SEO best practices and AP Style.

Responsibilities

• Attends local editorial meetings and serves as bridge between broadcast and digital in local newsroom.
• Trains, coaches, and manages team of local digital journalists.
• Assigns regional tasks across multiple websites based on strengths and needs.
• Writes buzzy headlines and packages content to maximize pageviews and time on site.
• Works with web producers to ensure a steady stream of interesting content is packaged interactively and promoted to readers.
• Evaluates traffic trends to inform daily and long-term content development for in-DMA growth.
• Leads the team responsible for planning and executing special coverage projects (weather, breaking news, enterprise content).
• Monitors major news sites and social media for breaking news and trends.
• Promotes content on social media.
