Job description

This job posting was opened on 5/2/25. Please note that we will be prioritizing candidates who are current IRC (and recently employed by IRC) staff before other applicants. If necessary, we will extend the opportunity to external candidates.

BACKGROUND:

Through 29 regional offices in cities across the United States, the IRC helps refugees resettle and become self-sufficient. The IRC-Wichita office has been providing services to newly arrived refugees since 2011. The IRC-Wichita office serves refugees and immigrants by providing resettlement and placement, family strengthening services through trauma-informed care, economic empowerment, youth and adult education, and immigration services provided by a Department of Justice accredited legal representative. The IRC helps those in need to rebuild their lives and regain control of their future in their new home.

SCOPE OF WORK:

The Digital Literacy Coordinator manages the Digital Literacy educational program, which equips IRC Wichita clients with core digital literacy skills, access to necessary resources and opportunities, and provides clients with culturally and linguistically competent direct literacy programs and services. This position is primarily responsible for overseeing the Digital Literacy Program grants and coordinating one full-time and one part-time Digital Literacy specialist, along with one full-time Digital Literacy Navigator located in Hutchinson, Kansas. Collaborating with colleagues, the Digital Literacy Coordinator ensures that programs are driven by client and stakeholder needs and are aligned with donor requirements, and that qualitative and quantitative data are collected. This is a full-time, non-exempt position supervised by the Education Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate the delivery of Digital Literacy programming, provide supportive management to direct reports, build their capacity, identify opportunities for their growth, and empower them to develop robust and engaging programs to support digital literacy.
  2. Support the design of new programming to meet the digital needs of clients, driven by active collaboration with clients, the Vocational English Language Instructor, and integrating programming into the Vocational English Language Training (VELT) curriculum.
  3. Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework to assess program effectiveness from the perspective of participants and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  4. Build stakeholder relationships that enrich opportunities and connections for clients and enhance provider capacity.
  5. Ensure compliance with all program standards and grant requirements in accordance with the State Office for Refugees (KSOR) programming requirements, including quarterly, semi-annual, and monthly reports.
  6. Maintain ongoing communication with colleagues regarding program status, clients, and outcomes, and provide timely reports on management and contract compliance issues.
  7. Participate in resource development and the writing of grant proposals to support digital education work at IRC Wichita.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Education, Digital Media, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of two years’ experience in education programs for children, youth, and adults, including supervising staff or volunteers and curriculum development.
  3. Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Effective and diplomatic communication skills in a multicultural setting and with limited-English proficiency speakers.
  5. Fluency in English required. International work or study experience and second language abilities, particularly in Spanish, French, Pashto, Dari, Arabic, Swahili, or other client languages, are a plus.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), internet research, and experience using databases and information gathering systems.
  7. Able to work occasionally on a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
  8. Valid driver’s license and reliable access to an insured vehicle.
  9. Ability to work in a standard office environment and in the community, including meetings with community partners.
  10. Occasional weekend and/or evening work may be required.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.

Equal Opportunity Employer: IRC is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We consider all applicants on the basis of merit without regard to race, sex, color, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law.

US Benefits: We offer comprehensive benefits including sick days, holidays, paid time off, medical, dental, vision insurance, FSA, retirement plans, disability & life insurance, and an Employee Assistance Program for staff and families.
