About The Role

Heggerty is seeking experienced facilitators to deliver high-quality professional development to educators. This contract role involves facilitating engaging virtual and in-person training sessions, equipping educators with the knowledge to implement Heggerty’s literacy practices effectively.

Ideal candidates will have deep knowledge of structured literacy, reading development, and prior experience in consulting, facilitation, and professional development, especially in literacy instruction. This role suits individuals who have transitioned out of classroom teaching but remain committed to improving student outcomes through educator partnerships.

This is a needs-based, contract position with peak demand during back-to-school months, requiring flexible availability and extensive travel.

Responsibilities
  1. Facilitate Professional Development: Deliver engaging, research-based training sessions on the Heggerty curriculum, both virtually and in-person.
  2. Adapt to Educator Needs: Tailor training to meet the specific contexts of schools and districts.
  3. Manage Session Logistics: Coordinate scheduling, materials, follow-ups, and ensure smooth sessions.
  4. Stay Current & Collaborate: Participate in onboarding, training, and meetings to stay updated on product and instructional best practices.
  5. Support Educator Learning: Serve as a resource during professional development sessions.
  6. Ensure Professionalism & Preparedness: Manage travel and scheduling during peak seasons.
  7. Provide Feedback & Communication: Act as a liaison, communicating issues and needs effectively.
Qualifications
Educational & Professional Background
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, literacy, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
  • Certifications in literacy or related fields (e.g., LETRS, Orton-Gillingham) are a plus.
  • Experience delivering professional development in various formats.
  • Classroom teaching experience with evidence-based literacy practices.
  • Familiarity with the Heggerty curriculum and the Science of Reading.
Technical & Instructional Skills
  • Proficiency with educational technologies and virtual platforms.
  • Strong facilitation skills for adult learners.
Communication & Organization
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt sessions and manage logistics effectively.
Technology & Workspace Requirements
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Zoom.
  • Own equipment, reliable internet, and a professional workspace.
Additional Details
  • Travel required, especially during July–October; proximity to major airports preferred.
  • Remote location.
