Job summary

Newport News Public Schools seeks an Instructional Coach for Digital Learning to strengthen Tier 1 instruction across content areas. The role collaborates with teachers, school leaders, and district staff to enhance instruction through coaching, modeling, and data-informed reflection.

The DLC leverages technology to deepen student engagement and instructional design, focusing on instructional improvement rather than device support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Technology, or a related field.
• Professional teaching license with endorsements in Administration and Supervision; Ed.S. or doctoral degree preferred.
• Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience.
• Demonstrated instructional leadership and strong communication skills.
• Thorough knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment including instructional technology trends.
• Ability to coach adult learners and facilitate job-embedded professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Coach teachers to strengthen Tier 1 instructional practice with technology support.
• Model high-quality instruction through co-planning and co-teaching.
• Guide teachers in analyzing student work and data to assess impact.
• Facilitate reflective coaching cycles grounded in evidence of practice.
• Lead and influence instructional improvement by building teacher capacity.
