Job summary

LANNINGSMITH is seeking a Fabrication Technician to join our production team in Baltimore, MD. This hands-on role focuses on turning drawings and digital files into accurately fabricated components using CNC routers, 3D printers, laser cutters, and traditional tools.

You will help maintain equipment, improve systems, and support workflows while collaborating with designers and production staff to solve fabrication challenges.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with CNC routing and digital fabrication.
• Experience preparing files and toolpaths using CAD/CAM software.
• Familiarity with 3D printing and laser cutting.
• Experience with woodworking and general fabrication.
• Ability to read and work from drawings and dimensions.
• Strong mechanical and spatial problem-solving skills.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and quality focused.
• Comfortable moving between computer-based work and hands-on fabrication.
• Curious, adaptable, and interested in improving how things are made.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC routers, 3D printers, and laser-cutting equipment.
• Prepare files and toolpaths for digital fabrication.
• Fabricate components from drawings and production information.
• Support woodworking, assembly, prototyping, and general shop fabrication.
• Develop jigs, fixtures, templates, and efficient production methods.
• Troubleshoot routine machine, file, and fabrication issues.
• Check completed components for accuracy and quality.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and maintain tooling.
• Work with designers and production staff to solve fabrication challenges.
• Help improve digital fabrication workflows and shop capabilities.
