Job summary

The New School in New York City is seeking a Full-time Technician in Digital Tools for the Making Center. You will support the laser, 3D printing, CNC, and fabrication workflows while interfacing with students and faculty.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of related experience, strong communication skills, and a willingness to train and lead demonstrations. This is an on-site, union-governed position with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and relevant professional experience required.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with cross-disciplinary facilitation and fabrication workflows.

Responsibilities

• Support daily operations of the Making Center facilities.
• Lead demos and train students in digital fabrication tools.
• Create and update lab documentation and signage.
• Assist with purchasing, onboarding, and schedule management.
• Provide safe operation of laser cutters, 3D printers, and CNC machines.
