Job summary

North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT) seeks a Digital Accessibility Product and Program Lead to execute strategy and deliver accessibility services across the state's enterprise IT. This hybrid role is based in Bismarck, ND and requires building partnerships with agencies to advance accessibility governance and compliance.

You will manage projects, coordinate with internal teams and vendors, and drive continuous improvement to deliver accessible digital forms, websites, apps, and content

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT/UX/Communications/PM or related field with at least 2 years in PDF/website accessibility remediation.
• Experience supporting accessibility programs, initiatives, or compliance is preferred.
• Experience coordinating efforts among multiple government entities is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the digital accessibility program vision, roadmap, and service catalog.
• Translate agency and enterprise requirements into prioritized digital accessibility initiatives and solutions.
• Manage the digital accessibility product backlog and ensure alignment with business, technical, and compliance objectives.
• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of digital accessibility projects and programs, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Manage cross-functional teams, including internal staff, contractors, vendors, and agency partners, to deliver accessible digital products and services.
• Serve as the primary liaison between NDIT and agency stakeholders for digital accessibility services.
• Monitor program performance, budgets, milestones, and outcomes while driving continuous improvement and innovation.
• Ensure enterprise forms, websites, applications, and digital content align with accessibility standards and coordinate remediation efforts as needed.
• May supervise other team members

North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT) is seeking a collaborative and strategic Digital Accessibility Product and Program Lead to execute the strategy and successful delivery of digital accessibility services across North Dakota's enterprise IT environment. This hybrid position will be based in Bismarck, North Dakota

As our Digital Accessibility Product and Program Lead, you will:

• Define and maintain the digital accessibility program vision, roadmap, and service catalog.


• Translate agency and enterprise requirements into prioritized digital accessibility initiatives and solutions.


• Manage the digital accessibility product backlog and ensure alignment with business, technical, and compliance objectives.

To succeed in this role, you will build strong partnerships across agencies and cross-functional teams, serving as a trusted advisor to advance digital accessibility throughout state government. You'll bring expertise in digital accessibility standards, governance, and compliance, along with experience implementing accessibility initiatives across enterprise environments.

The ideal candidate has a proven ability to manage complex programs, balance multiple stakeholder priorities, and communicate technical concepts to audiences at all levels. Strong project and vendor management skills will help you thrive in this role.

To Be Considered For This Role, You Must Have

• A bachelor's degree in information technology, User Experience (UX) Design, Communications, Project Management, or a closely related field, and at least two years of professional experience conducting or coordinating PDF and website accessibility remediation. Additional experience supporting accessibility programs, initiatives, or compliance efforts is preferred.

Additional work experience as listed above may be substituted for formal education on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using relevant software (CommonLook, Acrobat Pro, Deque, SiteImprove, etc.).


• Experience coordinating efforts among multiple government entities.


• Knowledge and experience applying UX design principles.


• Experience managing government budgets and working with procurement/vendors
