Job summary

Job Service North Dakota seeks a DVOP Specialist to assist veterans in accessing services and benefits within the state. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least two years of related work experience, with substitutions allowed year-for-year.

Preference is given to qualified disabled veterans under the DVOP program. Applicants must submit a cover letter, resume, three references, DD 214 or NGB 22 showing honorable service, and a VA letter if applicable.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must have the following:

• a bachelor's degree in a related field plus at least two (2) years of related work experience
• work experience can substitute education on a year for year basis
• must be a veteran in accordance with Title 38 U.S.C. 4103A, Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (see below for more information)
• application must include cover letter, resume, three professional references, copy of report of separation DD 214 or NGB 22 from National Guard or Reserve showing character of service as "Honorable," and a letter less than one year old from the Veteran's Administration indicating the veterans disability status If applicable.

To be considered for this position, you must meet the definition of a "qualified disabled veteran" or "qualified eligible veteran" in accordance with Title 38 U.S.C. Sect. 4103A, Disabled Veterans Outreach Program.

• Qualified Disabled Veteran, as defined by 38 U.S.C. Sect. 4211(3): The term "disabled veteran" means (A) a veteran who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary, or (B) a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.
• Qualified Eligible Veterans, as defined by 38 U.S.C. Sect. 4211(4): The term "eligible veteran" means a person who- (A) served on active duty for a period of more than 180 days and was discharged or released therefrom with other than a dishonorable discharge; (B) was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability; (C) as a member of a reserve component under an order to active duty pursuant to section 12301(a), (d), or (g), 12302, or 12304 of title 10, served on active duty during a period of war or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge is authorized and was discharged or released from such duty with other than a dishonorable discharge; or (D) was discharged or released from active duty by reason of a sole survivorship discharge (as that term is defined in section 1174(i) of title 10)

Required

In accordance with Title 38 U.S.C. Sect. 4103A, Disabled Veterans Outreach Program, preference will be given to certain applicants when hiring for this DVOP Specialist position. The required order of hiring preference is:

• First, qualified disabled veterans
• Second, other qualified veterans
