Job summary

SanStone Health & Rehabilitation seeks an Assistant Dietary Manager to support daily operations of the dietary department in a skilled nursing facility. You will coordinate staff, assist with meal prep and service, and ensure meals meet resident diets and orders.

Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork are essential to maintain quality nutrition and compliance. As part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team, you will help prepare for regulatory surveys and uphold sanitation and safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in healthcare food service or long-term care preferred.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to read and follow therapeutic diet orders and meal plans.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with residents, families, coworkers, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Must be dependable, professional, and able to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Dietary Manager with day-to-day operations of the dietary department.
• Coordinate, schedule, and supervise dietary staff.
• Assist with meal preparation, tray service, dining room service, and meal delivery.
• Ensure meals and snacks align with resident diets and physician orders.
• Monitor special diets, allergies, and substitutions.
• Maintain diet lists and meal service records.
• Promote sanitation and proper kitchen safety practices.
• Monitor food temperatures and storage, dating, and rotation.
• Assist with inventory control and storage of food and supplies.
• Keep a clean, organized kitchen and dining area.
• Provide training and guidance to dietary staff.
• Address resident concerns regarding meals professionally.
