Job summary

Sinai Post Acute in Newark, NJ is seeking a Dietary Supervisor to oversee the food service department, ensure the delivery of high-quality nutrition, supervise dietary staff, and maintain compliance with dietary plans and sanitary regulations. This full-time role includes benefits and potential direct food prep during staffing shortages.

The position requires leadership, regulatory certifications, and strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Certification in accordance with regulatory agencies governing the facility.
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in culinary services, food management, or a related field is preferred.
• Food Service Certification as required by regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and directs the activities of dietary staff, including assigning tasks and ensuring procedures are followed.
• Oversees meal preparation and service to meet quality and dietary requirements and schedules.
• Ensures compliance with sanitary regulations and maintains a clean, safe work environment.
• Monitors dietary guidelines and therapeutic diets as directed by a Registered Dietitian.
• Manages inventory and communicates needs for ordering.
• Trains new dietary staff and maintains staff schedules and records.
• Contributes to staff performance evaluations and addresses issues as needed.
• Supports facility safety and emergency preparedness in line with codes and MSDS.
• Ensures resident dietary needs and preferences are addressed with care.
• May participate in food prep or service to maintain coverage during shortages.
• Performs other duties to support dietary department operations.
