Job summary

The Alden Network values a skilled dietary services leader to plan, organize, and direct the departmental operations in a long-term care setting. You will educate staff, ensure compliance with federal and state standards, and oversee nutrition planning for residents.

As this role requires supervisory responsibilities and strong knowledge of LTC regulations, you will coordinate with administration to maintain safety, quality, and patient-centered dining services while fostering professional

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Dietitian or clinically qualified nutrition professional as defined by CMS F801 483.60(a)(1).
• Certification as Certified Dietary Manager (CDM).
• National certification in food service management/safety from a national certifying body.
• Associate’s or higher degree in food service management or hospitality with relevant coursework.
• If hired before Nov. 28, 2016, must become CDM by 2021; if after, by 2017.
• Current Sanitation Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
• Knowledge of Federal and State LTC Food and Nutrition Services regulations.
• English reading/writing/speaking proficiency.
• Ability to make independent decisions in residents' best interest.
• Professional discretion with confidential data.

Responsibilities

• Ensure departmental policies and procedures are followed.
• Attend resident care plan conferences.
• Assess residents’ nutritional status per standards of care.
• Recruit, interview, and select FNS personnel with Administrator approval.
• Schedule department work hours and assignments to expedite work.
• Complete performance evaluations timely.
• Ensure credentials and training for FNS staff; follow approved procedures.
• Plan and participate in in-service education programs.
• Orient new employees to facility and department policies.
• Recommend equipment and supply needs to Administrator.
• Place orders for food, equipment, and supplies within budget guidelines.
• Inspect storage rooms and supply areas for upkeep.
• Process diet changes and new diets from nursing.
• Document resident diet concerns and interventions.
• Interview residents or families to obtain diet history/preferences.
• Maintain up-to-date diet lists and census.
• Complete MDS sections and care plans for nutrition.
• Visit residents to evaluate meal acceptance.
• Monitor meals and address decreased oral intake.
• Maintain adequate stock levels of food supplies.
• Ensure safe operation of dietary equipment.
• Collaborate with Corporate on changes; implement as advised.
• Develop and maintain QA program.
• Attend relevant department/policy meetings.
• Supervise, educate, counsel, and discipline FNS staff.
• Perform rounds to ensure forms, temperatures, and labeling accuracy.
• Supervise dining rooms for service quality and safety.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
