DIETARY MANAGER/REGISTERED DIETICIAN
Location: Sharon Hill, PA
Status: Full time
Shift: Mon to Fri, 8 am to 430 pm, no nights/weekends or /on call
Position Purpose:
The primary purpose of your job position is to plan organize and manage the daily operation of the Dietary Department at the PACE Organization which includes but not limited to overseeing maintenance/cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen; monitor portion control, appropriate serving of food; and adherence to therapeutic diets, purchasing and inventory of food.
Position Details:
This position will oversee a full prep kitchen as well as supervise two dietary aides.
What you will do:
Maintain department budget, place orders for equipment and supplies as necessary. Identify financial vulnerabilities and make cost reduction recommendations as needed.
Evaluate, develop, mentor, coach, counsel and discipline department staff. Supports other personnel from other departments through coaching and mentoring to help achieve optimum standard of excellence. Addresses issues of concern through courageous conversation and notifies department manager of any interactions requiring attention.
Facilitate serving of food and beverages according to participants' diet orders and dietary restrictions.
Ensure all dietary activities are conducted efficiently and consistent with policy and procedures.
Conduct food inventories weekly and monthly, purchase food service-related supplies.
Oversee maintenance/cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen; monitor portion control, appropriate serving of food; and adherence to therapeutic diets, purchasing and inventory of food.
Assure the dietary expenses are within budgetary limits and maintain current written records of department expenditures and provide documentation, records and cost reports to the appropriate leaders as required.
Ensure staff members are maintaining high standards of sanitation and safety in operation and care of equipment.
Directly supervise meal service and cleaning tasks.
Work with Administration and Dietitian to plan and care out special functions and catered events as assigned.
Responsible for promoting and coordinating catered events.
Interacts with participants to enhance the quality of their food service experience.
Supervise dietary aides the performance of duties related to food preparation, food serving and/or general maintenance in the kitchen or dining area.
Participate in food production activities such as preparing, cooking and baking food items.
Maintain the dining area, kitchen and kitchen equipment according to established policies and procedures
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition, dietetics or a related field preferred
Must be a Registered Dietician.
Minimum five (5) years previous experience in quantity food preparation in healthcare, hospitality or retirement industry.
A combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
Supervisory experience required.
ServSafe Certification or receive one within one (1) to three (3) months of employment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Superior written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to change and be flexible with work priorities.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work independently.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, customer service and problem-solving skills.
