Position Summary

The Dietary Manager is a key leadership position responsible for the successful operation of Dining Services. The Dietary Manager is responsible for actively preparing meals and managing the operations of the Dining Services Department, including staffing, food ordering and accountability, preparation, menu planning, food delivery, and sanitation in accordance with health regulations. The Director ensures client and customer satisfaction with efficient, cost-effective management that meets and exceeds expectations. They also assist in maintaining a positive environment for residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Supervise, assign duties, and direct all food service department employees, with full accountability.
  2. Ensure equipment maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation; address noncompliance promptly. Maintain food costs within budget and control inventory.
  3. Use independent judgment and discretion.
  4. Interview, recommend hiring, and orient new staff.
  5. Create and modify staff schedules, managing requests and time off.
  6. Track attendance and enforce disciplinary actions when necessary.
  7. Communicate and enforce policies, including safety and sanitation, and administer disciplinary actions.
  8. Evaluate employee performance and recommend employment changes.
  9. Conduct quarterly dietary QA audits.
  10. Plan menus in coordination with medical staff and handle special events.
  11. Ensure meals are prepared according to recipes, are nutritious and appetizing, and are presented attractively. Manage food storage and sanitation.
  12. Provide excellent customer service to residents and staff.
  13. Perform duties courteously and professionally, prioritizing resident safety and satisfaction.
  14. Greet visitors warmly and answer phones appropriately.
  15. Ensure compliance with residents’ rights and regulations.
  16. Ensure employees attend required trainings and provide in-service sessions as needed.
  17. Attend training sessions as directed.
