Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in quantity food production/service and supervision preferred.
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred.
  • Must obtain Food Protection Manager (FPM) certification within 14 days.

Responsibilities

The Department Manager oversees the food service program at a single site, ensuring high food quality standards, inventory management, food safety, and customer service. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting the food service team to meet quality and safety standards.
  • Maintaining accurate records of income, expenditures, food supplies, personnel, and equipment using HCSG software.
  • Conducting staff training, quality control, and in-service sessions; performing roles of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher as needed.
  • Communicating directives effectively to staff from client managers, building occupants, and administrators.
  • Ensuring safety protocols, proper handling of cleaning solutions, reporting equipment needs or malfunctions.
  • Following infection control, universal precautions, and handwashing procedures.
  • Maintaining punctuality and timely task completion.
  • Representing HCSG positively through courteous interactions with staff, residents, and guests.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or higher in food service management or hospitality; coursework in food service or restaurant management preferred.
  • Two years of experience in quantity food production/service and supervision preferred.
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred (or as required by law).
  • Must obtain Food Protection Manager (FPM) certification within 14 days of employment.
  • Must obtain Food Service Manager (FSM) and Long-Term Care Food Service (LTC-FSM) certifications within 60 days.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and effective communication with staff and leadership.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies.
  • Ability to lift/carry and push/pull up to 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks and work around food and cleaning products.
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
  • Residency within the service area required.
