Summary

Under direct supervision, identifies patients at nutritional risk, plans and implements medical nutrition therapy for assigned populations.

Responsibilities
  • Assesses educational needs to advise patients and/or families on diets, adapting them to medical conditions, lifestyles, and preferences, and evaluates learning outcomes with follow-up.
  • Collaborates with Food Service to provide appropriate menus and food options for patients.
  • Works with physicians, nursing, pharmacy, and other healthcare team members to determine and provide medical nutrition therapy.
  • Performs operational tasks such as reviewing diet, TPN, NPO lists, and completing calorie counts, providing care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Utilizes current research to enhance professional practice and participate in PI initiatives.
  • Assesses nutritional status, develops and implements care plans, and monitors patient responses.

Education and Certification Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (Required)
  • Florida Dietitian/Nutritionist License

Additional Information

No prior experience required. Must obtain RDN & Florida license within 6 months of hire. Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently in stressful environments.

Physical and Working Conditions

Includes bending, stooping, keyboard use, kneeling, lifting, reaching, and working in various environments with potential hazards such as biological and chemical risks.

Shift

Primarily office hours; no shift differential.
