Responsibilities

The Department Manager oversees the food service program at a single site, ensuring high food quality standards, inventory management, food safety, and customer service. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting the food service team to meet quality and safety standards.
  • Maintaining accurate records of income, expenditures, food supplies, personnel, and equipment using HCSG software.
  • Conducting staff training, quality control, and in-service sessions; performing roles of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher as needed.
  • Communicating directives from client managers, building occupants, and administrators effectively.
  • Ensuring safety protocols with protective gear, proper handling of cleaning solutions, and reporting equipment issues.
  • Following infection control, universal precautions, and handwashing procedures.
  • Maintaining attendance, punctuality, and timely task completion.
  • Representing HCSG positively through courteous interactions with staff, residents, and guests.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associates degree or higher in food service management or hospitality (preferred).
  • Two years of experience in food production/service and supervision (preferred).
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification (preferred or required by law).
  • Must obtain Food Protection Manager (FPM) within 14 days of employment.
  • Must obtain Food Service Manager (FSM) and LTC-FSM certifications within 60 days.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and effective communication with staff and leadership.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies.
  • Ability to lift/carry and push/pull up to 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform routine tasks and work around food and cleaning products.
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
  • Residency within the service area.
