Base pay range

$12.00/hr - $13.50/hr

Higher Call Nursing Center in Quapaw, OK, is seeking an energetic Dietary Cook with a proactive attitude to join our team.

General Purpose

Prepare food according to resident diet specifications, facility procedures, and dietary regulations under the supervision of the Dietary Manager.

Essential Job Functions
  • Prepare and cook resident meals according to menu and number of servings.
  • Ensure proper cooking methods and temperatures for food quality.
  • Maintain sanitation of work area and equipment.
  • Taste and observe foods to ensure quality and presentation.
  • Prepare meals timely to meet serving schedules.
  • Serve food according to dietary guidelines, checking for completeness and accuracy.
  • Monitor portion control to prevent waste.
  • Prepare foods for staff, visitors, and special events as directed.
  • Inspect special diet trays for accuracy.
  • Attend in-service education programs.
  • Follow safety protocols, confidentiality, and resident rights policies.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience in preparing large quantities of food.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Good communication, self-discipline, and patience.
  • Caring attitude towards elderly and disabled residents.
  • Compliance with residents' rights and facility policies.
Working Conditions
  • Fast-paced environment with potential interruptions.
  • Decision-making under pressure.
  • Involvement with residents, staff, visitors, and agencies.
  • Possible extra hours, weekends, and emergency call-backs.
  • Exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and hazardous chemicals.
