Job description

Shift Time: 5AM-1PM, 11AM-8PM

The role involves preparing menu items according to established standards, serving them attractively and at proper temperatures, and implementing proper cleaning and food handling procedures for optimal infection control.

Essential Duties
  1. Perform job duties safely, adhering to physical, sensory, and mental requirements.
  2. Read menus and recipes, and review meal preparation steps with the Director of Food & Nutrition Services.
  3. Prepare menu items following established standards and recipes.
  4. Determine quantities needed for meal preparation and use proper food handling techniques.
  5. Prepare substitute items to meet residents' individual needs.
  6. Serve meals according to portion sizes listed on the menu.
  7. Cover, date, label leftovers, and store them properly.
  8. Follow established security routines.
  9. Use proper infection control techniques and protective equipment as needed.
  10. Supervise food service staff in the absence of the Director or Assistant Director of Food & Nutrition Services.
  11. Receive and check deliveries against invoices when the Director or Assistant Director are unavailable.
  12. Maintain the kitchen facility in a safe and sanitary manner, including cleaning floors, walls, equipment, and utensils.
  13. Perform dishwashing duties for pots, pans, and other designated items.
