Solaris HealthCare Waterman in Tavares, FL is seeking a dedicated Cook to support menu orders, nourishments and special events. You will prepare meals following approved recipes, monitor portions, and maintain clean, sanitary kitchen operations in compliance with state and federal standards.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of large-scale cooking experience, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to read and follow dietary guidelines.

The primary purpose of your job position is to prepare and serves nourishing and attractive meals and other foods as required to support the menu specific to diet orders and other center events, in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and Solaris HealthCare’s established policies and procedures.

• Reviews menus, production and prep guides to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared.’
• Prepares all meal items according to planned menus and standardized recipes in a sanitary manner to ensure the utmost in quality with a minimum of waste.
• Uses nutritionally equivalent substitutes when required.
• Operates a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, such as blender, mixer, fryer, slicer, steamer, food processor, convection oven, stove, conventional oven, steam table and tilt skillet.

• Wash, peel, cut, and shreds vegetables and fruits to prepare for use.
• Tests and observes food by tasting for palatability.

• Prepares and assists with special function meals.
• Completes work assignments.
