Job summary

Oak Knoll Health & Rehabilitation is seeking a Dietary Cook to join our team and support residents with nutritious, diet-compliant meals.

You will prepare meals per approved menus, maintain strict food safety, review diet orders, and ensure accurate portions in a clean, organized kitchen, while upholding infection prevention procedures.

Qualifications

• Patience, compassion, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward serving the elderly and individuals with disabilities.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Previous cooking experience is preferred; healthcare or long-term care experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention practices.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and therapeutic diet requirements
• Ensure meals are prepared, portioned, and served according to quality and food safety standards
• Review production sheets and resident diet orders to ensure accuracy
• Properly store, label, and rotate food items using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas
• Monitor food temperatures and follow all state, federal, and facility food safety regulations
• Assist with meal service as needed and work collaboratively with the dietary team
• Follow all infection prevention, sanitation, Universal Precautions, and workplace safety procedures
